Youngest asbestos victim dies aged 18

At just 18 years old, the touching strive against cancer ended after 5 years, for Britain's youngest victim of Mesothelioma, the disease that is linked with asbestos exposure.

Throughout the ordeal, Sophie Ellis had remained upbeat and a true inspiration, backing Asbestos Campaign's and being of constant support to help others understand and be aware of the life changing disease.

Doctors announced to both Sophie and her family that she would have months to live, but even after surgery left her without her legs and a lung, she continued to persue her dreams and ambitions of music and acting.

It's not clear how she had fallen victim to the cancer - Generally a killer amongst men in the construction industry. There are no known symptoms of the disease and it can go unnoticed for many years.

Sophie thought she had injured herself, when in actual fact she had contracted a tumour in her lung, which then spread to her spine.

When she first found out about her cancer, Sophie made a video tape in recognition of her illness and as a memorial of the life she led.
