Construction company Retro Future 2000, have recently been fined £7,000 at the cost of endangering the lives of 30 employees, at two new 6 storey apartment block projects in Liverpool.
The firm were prosecuted by the HSE, following a visit to the site on Kings Dock in April 2010, after mounting concerns.
An inspector for the HSE said that although nobody has been injured , it is one of the worst cases he has ever dealt with . Various parts of the site had no barriers to prevent falls which could have resulted in injury or death to any workers.
The company have previously been issued four notices , one of which was a Prohibition Notice due to unsafe working at height. Unfortunately it appears Retro Future 2000 had fallen back into its old habits within a few weeks.
Retro Future 2000 were in breach of the Work at Height Regulations for the failure of methods to deter workers suffering injuries in a fall.
